Kewal Kaur Khalsa is the Director of Yoga West, as well as one of the teachers at this Kundalini studio. We were greeted by her warm smile and full-of-life radiance as we sat down on our mat. As she began speaking, we could tell that she’s the real deal – in other words, she walks the talk. Her essence conveys to us that the sacred science of Kundalini Yoga works for her, and can work for us too, if we work it. Kundalini classes typically have themes to them, and the particular class that we went to of hers was focused on opening the heart. Kewal had us do countless rounds of Kapalabhati (an oft-neglected limb of yoga), which totally revitalized us, and made us get the sense that we were burning through old, stagnant energy. She also had us do different sets of dynamic movements, including what felt like a bajillion squats. Who said Kundalini yoga wasn’t a workout? Heck, we were sore for days after her class, plus felt better able to access love. Thanks, Kewal.
