It’s when we realize that all our hard knocks, even the ones we may have felt the victim of, were actually amazing chances to claim who we really want to be, reveal our inner strength and wisdom, and come to a place of clarity about what we will and won’t participate in now. As Maya Angelou said, 'I did what I knew ... and when I knew better, I did better.'

From what I can gather, people are attracted to my personal perspectives about life and yoga, because I cut through the sometimes yogier-than-thou attitude and misunderstandings about how to apply the yoga philosophies. I don't know how many times someone has said ‘that's not yogic’ to a student, thereby entering into the type of judgment we are trying to avoid. That can turn newbies off from the practice before they’ve had a chance to see what a personal path of transformation it can be for them. So instead I think of myself as a translator of yoga for the people - and speak in real-world terms about what we can actually do, right now, to transform into more of who we are each meant to be.

My style is Core-based, which has less to do with the abs, and more about accessing the deep core muscle meridians within the inner body, learning how the breath and bandhas interrelate and dissolving the tension we're often building up on the outer body from doing this repetitive practice from the outside in. I enjoy showing students how to access their most efficient and effective source of power, whether that's physical, or energetic, the way they think and act, and much more. Then we can all rock our worlds from the inside out - each in our own unique ways. Plus, we do the Bon Jovi Chant and Charlie's Angel's Mudra, Kicks of Fire and other energizing and esteem-building stuff that makes all that anatomy and backing-off-to-go-deeper-work actually fun to do. After all, I strongly believe that one should live passionately in all possible moments, and most especially in yoga class.
