I was given the name Lady Ruth more than ten years ago by Geshe Michael Roach. He was my student. He felt that I was special and should have an honorific added to my name to signify my specialness. The name stuck and many people call me Lady Ruth. Geshe Michael is a magician: I became a better person with this new name.

I came to Jivamukti through Eddie Stern, who I had met in India at the Sivananda Yoga Teacher's Training in1988. The following year he introduced me to Sharon and David. Immediately they became my teachers. Without any doubt we accepted each other. Since then many blessings have come.

My main influences are my teachers, my students and my practice. My teachers, David Life, Sharon Gannon, Sri K Pattabhi Jois, Saraswati Jois, Sharath Jois, and Dr. M S Jaya Shree, saw something good within me that I had not previously seen. They showed me ways to further uncover that goodness. My relationship with my teachers is full of devotion and gratitude. Through these relationships I feel continuous guidance.

My student's sincere interest in yoga gives me the chance to pass along what I have learned. It is through this sharing that I continue to learn. I would have nothing to teach if not for my own practice. What I've learned from my teachers gets integrated into my being through practice. These influences are working together all the time.
