Advanced Certified Jivamukti Teacher

Cassandra Rigney

I teach the kind of class that I would want to take. I research asana so you will most likely be practicing postures that you’ve never seen or tried before. You can expect to be challenged in my class, but I make the class accessible to all levels of practice. I am known for my creative sequencing. I teach a true vinyasa krama class.Whether I am building a class around a posture or a theme, there is a conscious placement and a purpose for every posture and breath.

My major influences are my gurus, my spiritual teachers Sharon Gannon and David Life, the founders of Jivamukti Yoga. Sharon and David have set the bar very high for us Jivamukti teachers. Their practice is rooted in ahimsa and the teachings of their gurus. Because of their compassion towards animals, I am inspired to be a better person, and as a vegan, I am a healthier one. Each month they present us with a teaching focus based on the Holy Scriptures. It is a joy to research, read, and educate myself with each focus. I grow not only as a teacher, but also as a student. I bow to the lotus feet of my fellow Jivamukti teachers. They are an invaluable lesson in strength and hard work.

Since realization of the oneness of being is the goal of all yoga practices, my goal is that students leave my class with the experience of having stepped outside of their ego and discovered a taste of universal oneness. And hopefully it tasted so good they’ll want to come back to take a big bite. I want them to transform their perception of the world and see all beings as one.
