Dry skin brushing is a simple Ayurvedic ritual that offers big benefits. Here are four things you should know about this easy detoxifying ritual.  

Brush up on your knowledge of dry skin brushing: 

  • Dry brushing improves skin tone by getting rid of dead skin cells and stimulating your circulation and lymph systems. It has also been said to reduce cellulite and promote weight loss.  
  • The best time to dry brush is right before you hop in the shower, ideally before your morning rinse. However, you may also dry brush before bed time. Just make sure that your skin is completely dry. 
  • Always dry brush towards the heart since this is the direction in which the lymphatic system flows. Start at your ankles and work your way up, brushing your legs, arms, and belly. Use long strokes; avoid back-and-forth or scrubbing motions.  
  • Dry skin brushing may sound painful but it never should be. We find it to be both relaxing and energizing and we love how soft our skin feels afterwards.
