Screw what you heard! We have been lied to this whole time. They told us that breakfast prevents weight gain and aids weight loss. They told us not to skip breakfast, but we could have been sleeping an extra half hour this whole time without gaining any weight.

According to a fresh report published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the research supporting the widely parroted notion that eating breakfast will help people control their weight isn’t supported by real research, but what the New York Times calls “misconstrued studies.” According to the report, the truth is:

“Missing breakfast has either little or no effect on weight gain, or that people who eat breakfast end up consuming more daily calories than those who skip it.”

So what they’re telling us is that skipping breakfast can actually help you lose weight, not gain weight? Suck it, breakfast. Captain Crunch can eat his heart out.
