Crescent Lunge

Crescent lunge engages your inner thighs as you must squeeze them to keep your balance. To get into crescent lunge, begin in downward facing dog. From here, inhale and lift your right leg high. Exhale and step your right foot between your palms. Inhale and sweep your arms up overhead as you do in mountain pose. Keep your right knee stacked over your right ankle and engage through your back leg. Squeeze your inner thighs together as if you are squeezing a sponge between your legs. Move your shoulders right over your hips and relax your shoulders down your back.

After holding this pose for 3-5 breaths, you'll feel your upper thighs fire up. Be sure to repeat on the other side.

Yoga poses for upper thighs: Warrior I
Warrior I

Warrior I seems to be a posture that many yogis avoid, but it is great for toning your inner thighs. In Warrior I, you must squeeze your upper thighs in this posture to square your hips straight ahead. To get into warrior I, begin in downward facing dog. Inhale and raise your right leg high, and exhale and step your right foot between your palms. Turn your left toes to face the top left corner of your yoga mat and step your left foot in until it is flat. Inhale and raise your arms over your head. Ease your right hip back and your left hip forward. You may find it useful to manually square your hips by bringing your hands to your hips, then raising your arms overhead once again.

Hold for 3-5 breaths then repeat on the other side.

Quad Stretch

To find a deep quad stretch, first move into runner's lunge. From downward facing dog, inhale and lift your right leg high, then exhale and step your right foot between your hands. Place both of your palms inside of your right foot and lower your back knee to your mat. From here, ground down through your left palm and with your right hand, reach back for your left foot. Gently pull the foot in towards you to feel a stretch in the front of your left thigh.

Hold for 3-5 breaths, then switch sides.
