New Year's Eve yoga parties in LA

New Year's Eve yoga events in LA
Local Events by Molly Nourmand

If you're over the whole champagne-toast-at-midnight thing, then maybe you want to mix it up with a more yogic New Year's Eve. Best part? You will start 2013 sans hangover. Here is a roundup of a few alternative NYE events in Los Angeles. But don't get all flakey and indecisive because these events just might fill up:

New Year's Eve celebration with Liberation Yoga's Christine Burke

We actually spent the last few hours of 2011 at Liberation Yoga and had the most memorable NYE ever. Why you ask? Not only because bottomless champagne was not happening, but also Christine Burke creates such an enchanting evening in her studio complete with an all levels flow class, meditation, her usual words of wisdom, treats, and surprises. This event has historically sold out, so call to get your tickets – stat! This workshop/event will take place on Monday, December 31st from 9:30pm until the cow's come. The cost is $50.

New Year's Eve event at the Shambhala Meditation Center of LA

Another event is a New Year's Eve retreat and party happening at the Shambhala Meditation Center of Los Angeles (SMCLA) on Monday, December 31 from 4pm-12am. You can come for the whole evening, or drop in at any time. The cost of the retreat is $15, and it's an extra ten bucks if you want to stay for the community dinner.

New Year's Eve mini-retreat at InsightLA

Wanna ring in 2013 in an auspicious way? Spend your New Year's Eve at a mini-retreat at InsightLA. There will be time for practice, talks, discussion, and a bit of socializing. Join them for a "peaceful and awake" NYE. The retreat starts at 9pm and goes through midnight. Cost is by donation. There are still openings for this event.
