Hilaria Thomas being sued
New York yoga teacher (and Alec Baldwin’s wife) Hilaria Thomas is being sued by a student who claims he suffered physical injuries and emotional upset during her class at Yoga Vida on January 15. Say what? This news is upsetting to us and we can’t shake the thought in the back of our monkey mind that a lawsuit like this could lead to trouble for lots of yoga teachers, even ones not famously married to Alec Baldwin. Many on Twitter expressed the same sentiment and showed solidarity with Hilaria (including her husband).
We’d also like to remind everyone to know their limit and practice responsibly. If you’re not sure how to safely get into a yoga pose, why not skip it during class and ask the teacher to show you afterwards?
On a happier note, Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Thomas are expecting their first child together. Congratulations!
Nude yoga no-no
Another yogini who’ll be appearing in a court of law soon: An 18-year-old Californian who was busted for practicing yoga in the nude at a park in West Covina. We know you don’t need anything to practice yoga, but let this be a lesson to all of you exhibitionists out there: if you want to practice yoga in the buff, find a nude yoga class in your area or do it in the privacy of your own home.
Yoga at New York Fashion Week
What’s the opposite of doing yoga in the nude? How about doing it in expensive designer yoga pants (and we’re not talking lululemon luon). Designer Betsey Johnson had her models working up a sweat during the New York Fashion Week runway show for her new activewear collection, BJ Kicks A. The candy-colored show featured models and Betsey doing yoga on hot pink mats on the runway. Supermodel, werk!
