Feeling a little blocked or uninspired this season? Ayurveda expert Ali Cramer shares four ways to boost creativity, specifically during Vata (fall) season for Breathe Repeat. Check out a few of her tips below.

As the wind and colder temperatures snuck in this week, we begin to feel the looming presence of winter, the holidays, and those long dark nights.

Vata season holds MYSTERIES! Spiritual and creative energy is very high this time of year, so take advantage of that and check in the following creative Practices.

1) A dream journal

Keep it right next to your bed. The effect of Vata on the mind could make your dreams REALLY far out there, so boost creativity when you wake up, don’t try to figure anything out right away. Just write down whatever you remember, then later in the day take a look. It might contain some important information about your subconscious or some cool clues about the future!

2) Meditation

I like to meditate after pranayama practice, but it’s best to find a time that works for you. My favorite time is dusk, which is part of Vata time, 2 pm-6 pm. I think it just gives a nice holy pause to the day. You might even sit with a question or problem in your life. Ayurveda Boost creativity and unusual perspective helps us to see in a different light. The solution just might come shining through.

3) Make up a new chant!

Pick a mantra you love, and pull out the harmonium if you have one. If you don’t – no sweat! Just make up a tune. Take some harmonium lessons if you can. Music is so good to soothe Vata.
